Specialized Stumpjumper Sport | 443

In 1982, the Specialized Stumpjumper was the first mass-produced mountain bike ever. Outsourcing the frame building in the Far East produced significantly cheaper bicycles than was possible in the handicraft workshops in the US.

In 1983 the Stumpjumper line was expanded with a slightly simpler "Sport" model, of which this museum copy is an example.
